New Building for Ignite Family Academy

Page last updated May 2025

To help meet the demand for our school, we are excited to move into a larger space.

How many more students will be enrolled?

We anticipate being able to enroll more students when we move into our new space.

Where will Ignite be located?

The new Ignite facility will be in the Raj Manhas Activity Center (RMAC), which is being modernized. The RMAC is just down Sleater-Kinney Road from our current location. View the proposed RMAC modernization drawings on the NTPS Building Our Future webpage.

In addition to a new space for Ignite, the updated facility will also house the Family and Youth Resource CenterSouth Sound Reading Foundation, and NTPS Student Records. Ignite will have a secure entrance.

When will the move take place?

We are working hard to finish construction before the 2025-26 school year. We have experienced delays, which are always possible with any large construction project. It currently appears highly likely that construction will extend beyond the start of the 2025-26 school year. If so, we will start the school year at River Ridge High School, in building B. This will provide us a dedicated space and plenty of room to continue our high-quality programming while we wait for RMAC to be completed. This may extend up to winter break.

Our temporary space at River Ridge will be fully secure, used just for Ignite, and will include parking for families. We will be sure there is clear signage so you know where to go.

Where is Ignite currently?

Ignite Family Academy is located in the Bower Learning Center (BLC) at 4111 6th Ave NE in Lacey. The building was constructed in 1971, and was originally the North Thurston High School library, salvaged from the campus when it was fully demolished in 1983. The BLC served as a community meeting space and office space and was eventually used as a professional development space until 2021 when it was remodeled into a school environment for the launch of Ignite Family Academy.

Will there be outdoor space for family members to gather while students are in class?

Yes! One of the things that makes Ignite special is how parents and guardians spend time together on campus while students are in class. We will still offer space for one parent/guardian to be in the building during classes and outdoor space for families to gather.
